Location: Studio 3, entrance through the Gallery

After spending twenty years as a graphic artist Carolyn discovered clay, and enrolled in Sheridan College’s three year ceramics program. Working on the wheel, she combines thrown parts with hand building, meticulously decorating before firing in her electric kiln.

Functional pieces and tableware are a major focus. It’s important to her (and her customers) that a teapot pour well and be pleasing to the eye; that a bowl make an artistic statement as well as grace a table.  Mugs are created with consideration for the user – a ‘thumb stop’ gives balance as well decoration.

For a change of pace she really enjoy bringing a smile to people’s lips.  In her studio you’ll find amusing hand built pencil holders, garden faces (not always smiling!) and spoon rests... perfect for gift giving or enlivening your home.

Because she began working in clay in later life, her work is quite varied. It’s a wonderful journey, and she wants to make the most of it!
