Janice A. Smith creates one-of-a-kind and limited production handmade jewellery. Sterling silver, touches of warm gold and polished wire highlight textured matte silver surfaces in her pieces. Occasionally, colourful stones adorn necklaces and pins.
A beautiful sheet of silver, untouched or shaped provides creative challenge for Janice as she shapes the metal into beautiful wearable art.
Contemporary, clean and textured themes are predominant in her work. Inspiration comes from a variety of sources including architecture and nature. Sand on a beach, shadows on snow and flowing water are evocative images that Janice often incorporates into her pleasing jewellery creations.
Janice studied at George Brown College and also took Humber College’s metal arts program. She has furthered her talents at workshops given by The Metal Arts Guild. For five years she was a designer at Burkhardt Jewellers in Toronto.
Her creations are sold in Canadian Galleries and at The Williams Mill.
