Jim Reid
Jim Reid’s paintings are done on-site in the landscape: canvases are moved to various locations throughout the year, and the paintings evolve through the extremes of the Canadian climate. The work takes months to complete and in the process becomes densely layered and slowly transforms as the landscape changes. The painting process becomes a metaphor for the natural cycles of growth and decay. His work has been widely collected and has been exhibited in solo and curated shows at venues such as Art Gallery at Harbourfront, Art Gallery of Hamilton, McMichael Gallery, Burlington Art Centre, MacLaren Art Centre, Art Gallery of Peterborough and Rideau Hall, Ottawa. Jim Reid is also an expert picture framer with twenty years of museum experience including Art Gallery of Ontario and McMichael Gallery. He opened Four Sticks Fine Custom Framing in 2002, and provides highest quality conservation framing to artists and to the public. The frame shop hours are Thursday to Saturday, noon to 5 p.m. |
