Email: kreczuch@sympatico.ca
Location: Yellow Mill

Early on, Karen Reczuch felt destined to become a great ballet dancer. To convince her parents, she drew dozens of pictures of ballerinas. Consequently, her parents recognized her artistic potential, but not as a dancer. Instead, they enrolled her in a painting class at the local library.

Many years later, Karen completed Sheridan College's three-year illustration program. A visit to Groundwood books yielded her first picture book The Auction in 1990. Other titles followed as Karen juggled full-time motherhood with a career as professional illustrator. Her talents have garnered many awards and a jury membership for the Governor General’s Awards (illustration).

Karen executes beautiful watercolours with exacting detail and sensitivity. Many are displayed at Studio Fourteen located in the Yellow Mill Building, along with original renderings from her well-known children’s books.

Karen rounds out her time with educational work and commercial illustration in association with her partners at Studio Fourteen.
