This 8-week course is designed as an introduction to fingerstyle guitar and will progress from the basics to more complex songs involving folk, ragtime and alternate tunings. You will learn a variety of tunes including some from Bruce Cockburn and John Fahey. Students must have a solid chord base and be comfortable with bar chords.

Students will be introduced to more in-depth study by working on progressive projects for 3 hours each week. Participants will be guided from concept to value, shape, paint quality and edges. The instructor will do brief demonstrations and then provide one-on-one assistance to students as they produce paintings and search for their concept.

An introduction to fusing glass jewellery. Students will receive instruction on how to cut glass, produce layers for fusing and experiment with coloured powder, and glass stringers to produce patterns and textures. Techniques will be expanded upon, with silver leaf, decals and design.

For two days, learn to describe form while contending with local colour. Explore textures, techniques and the many approaches to painting believable rocks; taking your grey rock face and putting colour and harmony on the canvas. Start with instruction on rappelling down the face of your canvas and then be encouraged to scale great heights - all without a safety net. The excitement and adrenaline rush requires students to approach this course with caution.

This course offers students the opportunity to expand knowledge on combining new media into one. Students will be working with an iPad and will by renowned art instructor and former Fanshawe College Professor Judy Mayer-Grieve. Students will learn how to use tools, colours, brushes and layers and steps in between to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
