Anita Van Zeumeren

Painter

Anita has lived in the Halton area for most of her life.  She is a classically trained artist having graduated from the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto.  She has shown her work both locally and internationally.  Her most recent accomplishments have been 2nd place in both the 3rd annual Mississauga Juried Show and the “Figureworks” Juried Show in Ottawa.

For a long time her work has not been for sale as it has mostly been a journey of the heart. Anita’s paintings speak about hope for a more beautiful world. There is a willingness to dig deeply into the brokenness of life. Having grown up in an insulated, white world, she is examining the systems of colonialism and patriarchy. She seeks to break down false perceptions born out of her faith, her race and her privilege.

An emotional expression, shared honesty, the frailty of a bird’s wing, the solid tenacity of a rock, the dying of a leaf, all speak to her of hope and love found in the sacredness of all things and all people. Now, she offers these paintings to you to join in the wonder and mystery of love.
