Masaru Honami

Glass Artist

Masaru Honami first was introduced to glass as an art student in Japan. In 2015, he immigrated to Canada where he found employment in a glass factory, further being exposed to the art of glass blowing. Masaru is self-taught and after renting out studio time for a few years at Glen Williams Glass; he became a member of the cooperative in July 2020.

Masaru is inspired by Japanese functionality. He carefully thinks about each piece he designs in terms of function and ability to stand up to everyday use. Masaru is also inspired by the way light hits certain objects. Cherry blossoms, winter ice, and fireworks are common themes in his work.
